"It's a fruit. That means it's healthy!"

I have a feeling I say this to myself WAY too much in life.

That can't be good.

So many things these days give us cancer, cause obesity, etc. Where's the enjoyment in food anymore?!

Yeah, okay, maybe not that extreme...but why not enjoy food while you can? I can promise you, you won't be able to taste it when you're dead and gone.

So, while these may not be the healthiest side dish in the world, they're amazingly delicious.

And, come on. Everyone loves apples.

Unless you're weird.

Awesome Fried Apples

Granny Smith Apples (amount varies on how many people you're feeding)
Butter (again, varies)
1-3 tbsp. brown sugar
Cinnamon (to taste)

First, you cut, core, and peel your apples.
If you have an apple corer/slicer thing, this is probably SUPER easy. I have a Chef's knife and a paring knife. It's risky business up in here, making these.

You can also leave the skin on, if you like. Just wash the apples well.
As I'm doing this. I like to put a strainer in a mixing bowl and fill it with water for the apples to sit in It doesn't let them get as brown and acts and a great rinse for them.

Completely optional.
Now, melt your butter in your skillet.

Add the apples. Keep it on a medium-high heat. Cook the apples until they start to get soft, but don't let them get too mushy.

Now add your brown sugar...

...and your cinnamon. Make sure you mix them in well so your apples are evenly coated.

And DONE. Slap those babies on a plate and make excuses with yourself as to why it's okay to eat them.

Apples are really good as a side to pork. I paired them with some pulled pork (which was covered in shredded cheese without a bun, 'cause I'm a rebel like that).

These apples go fast. Grab 'em while you can.
